Sniffs of Adventure

Candle-making experiences
Focus StrategyMarketing

— Overview

Sniffs of Adventure is a candle company whose most profitable line is not the sale of candles but the experience of making them. With the business set to exit its Newbury Street lease and consolidate operations at its Provincetown location, our team was engaged to answer a focused strategic question: how could Sniffs continue to deliver candle-making experiences in the Boston market without the fixed cost of a storefront?

The team structured the engagement around three asset-light routes to market, each developed as a parallel workstream. The first defined a corporate-events and partnerships channel, building a step-by-step operating playbook for delivering team-building candle-making sessions to companies, together with a go-to-market plan for promoting it, including a recommended structure for a dedicated events page on the Sniffs website. The second evaluated rentable event spaces across Boston, benchmarking venues on cost, fit, and feasibility and contacting operators directly to validate pricing and economics. The third assessed a hospitality-partnership model for the company's "sip & sniff" format, identifying wine bars, breweries, and other alcohol-friendly venues suited to candle-making-meets-drinks events.

The result was a practical roadmap for sustaining Sniffs of Adventure's highest-margin offering in Boston without a permanent lease. The client adopted and implemented FBC's recommended structure for the corporate-events page on its website.
